The doula behind Doula 2 Doula.

I’m Vanessa Fowler, a birth and postpartum doula, business owner, and lifelong learner.

My path into this work has included a Bachelor of Science in Family and Human Development, service in the United States Air Force, work as a Head Start Home Visitor, and more than a decade of supporting families through pregnancy, birth, newborn care, and postpartum recovery.

I’ve worked within agency settings, continued to practice as a doula, and built Pocket Doula Care in Austin, Texas. Along the way, I’ve experienced the practical realities of this work: the beautiful moments, the hard cases, the business decisions, the changing systems, and the process of figuring out what kind of professional you want to become.

I know that experience doesn’t mean you have everything figured out. It means you have more perspective to draw from—and hopefully, better questions to ask.

I created Doula 2 Doula because doulas deserve space to think about their own work, develop their skills, talk honestly about challenges, and make intentional decisions about their professional lives.

Sometimes you need practice. Sometimes you need perspective. Sometimes you need someone who understands the work to ask the question you’ve been avoiding.

That’s the space I want to create.
